Today, the new daily crochet pattern Amigurumi Octopus Free Crochet Pattern
I want to give you some information about this pattern;

Supplies you`ll need:

  • DK (8 ply) weight cotton – I used Novita Freesia (100% cotton; 50 g / 134 m)
  • contrasting color (in the same approximate weight) for the ruffle
  • crochet hook 2.5  mm
  • polyester fiberfill
  • black thread for stitching the eyes
  • darning and embroidery needles

Stitches and abbreviations

Slip stitch (sl st), chain (ch), single crochet (sc), hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, st(s) – stitch(es), rep – repeat

About the pattern:

  • Work in continuous rounds. Do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.
  • Use a stitch marker and place it in the first stitch of the round to mark the beginning of it.
  • Leave each piece a long tail for sewing.

BODY

Use the main yarn. Crochet from top to bottom.

1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]

2: Work 2 sc in each st around [12]

3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [18]

4: (Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [24]

5: (Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [30]

6: (Sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [36]

7: (Sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [42]

8-12: Sc in each st around

13: (Sc in each of next 5 sts, sc2tog) rep 6 times [36]

14-15: Sc in each st around

16: (Sc in each of next 4 sts, sc2tog) rep 6 times [30]

17-18: Sc in each st around

19: Working in the back loops only, (sc in each of next 3 sts, sc2tog) rep 6 times [24]

NB! Later the little ruffle will be crocheted in the front loops.

Now let`s make the tentacles. The first tentacle is shorter, the second one is longer. This gives a fun look.

The entire round is crocheted in the front loops only, the back loops are left for crocheting the next round. Marking the first back loop with a stitch marker makes it easier to find the beginning of the next round.

20: Ch 25. Starting in the second chain from hook, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 12 times, sc in each of next 3 front loops. Ch 35. Starting in the second chain from hook, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 17 times, sc in each of next 3 front loops. Repeat the instructions 4 times in total to form 8 tentacles.

Stuff the body.

21: Working in the back loops of the previous round, (sc in next st, sc2tog) rep 8 times [16]

22: Sc2tog around [8]

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Close the hole and weave in yarn end.

RUFFLE

Use the contrasting color. Hold the body upside down and start in the first front loop of round 19. Pull up a loop and ch 1. * Sc + hdc in the same loop, 3 dc in the next loop, hdc + sc in the next loop. Repeat 9 more times from *, only now start crocheting in the next stitch.

Knot and hide the yarn ends of the ruffle.

Embroider the face.
